FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: AIR CONDITIONING

What types of air conditioning units are available for hire at Control Hire?

At Control Hire, we carry a vast range of air conditioning units to suit a variety of workplace environments. From our 4.1kW reverse cycle air conditioner through to our 21.5kW reverse cycle air conditioner, we’ve got air conditioning solutions for events, industrial sites, warehouses and large offices.

How do I choose the right size portable air conditioning unit for my site?

When it comes to choosing the right size air conditioner for your needs, it’s important to consider the size of your space, insulation, climate conditions, number of workers and the heat generated from equipment and tools.

As a general rule:

  • Small rooms (up to 20m²): Require around 2.5kW cooling capacity.
  • Medium rooms (20-40m²): Need between 3.5kW and 5kW.
  • Large rooms or open spaces (40-60m²): Typically require 6kW to 7.5kW.
  • Extra-large areas (60m² and above): May need 8kW or more, or multiple units.

What’s the difference between reverse cycle air conditioners and refrigerated air conditioners?

Reverse cycle air conditioners offer both cooling and heating, making them perfect for year-round climate control. They transfer heat inside (for heating) or outside (for cooling) and are more energy-efficient than traditional heaters.

Refrigerated air conditioners, however, focus solely on cooling. They use a refrigerant to absorb indoor heat and release it outside, ideal for hot climates that don’t need heating.

Do you offer delivery and installation for hired air conditioning units?

Yes, we offer a complete installation, commission and dismantle service for our entire range of equipment.

What are the benefits of hiring an air conditioner instead of buying one?

Hiring an air conditioning unit for your next construction or mining project offers a number of advantages, including cost savings, the flexibility of being able to choose the right unit for your project, no maintenance hassles and access to the latest range of equipment.Â
